Porta Via

A concept that began over 20 years ago is now a Nashville staple for some of the finest Italian cuisine in the city.  Serving authentic Northern Italian and Mediterranean dishes intermingled with a Persian flare, Porta Via (translated "take out" in Italian) brings with it years of collecting recipes from a former airline pilot, the passion of an accomplished chef and the enthusiasm of a loyal patron!

After years of training in Italy for their certification, Porta Via is the only restaurant in Nashville to be VPN certified. Verace Pizza Napoletana is the method of making pizza's the old fashioned way with a hot wood-burning pizza oven after rising at 4 a.m. to make the dough so that the traditional method is respected.  I have a hard time passing up the pizza when I arrive but everything from their lobster ravioli to the seafood special and the homemade pasta are always a favorite of mine as well.

All of this is to be had after you have stuffed your face with the delicious bread and olive oil that has been placed at your table upon arrival...this usually ends in me taking left overs home which is perfectly fine for me as it only elongates my experience!
Of course the meal cannot be complete without trying some of the in-house made gelatto....trust me, it is better than any ice cream you have ever tasted....a small piece of heaven!  And, added bonus, it is cold so there is always a little more room in the belly for something ice cold....right guys???

Here are some of the things we tried...

Creamy Tuscan Onion Soup
Caesar Salad
Cannelloni
Fettuccine Alfredo
Porta Via Pizza
Seafood Special
Bianca Pizza with Pizza
Homemade Gelatto
Pin It!
